How to read tonight’s forecast for Warsaw
Clouds by layer. Low clouds block the sky completely, mid-level clouds almost as much, while thin high clouds only dim faint stars. A night with 30% high clouds can still be good; 30% low clouds usually is not.
Moon and darkness. The best time is astronomical night, when the Sun is more than 18° below the horizon. A bright Moon washes out galaxies and nebulae, but the Moon itself, planets and double stars look great in any phase.
Light pollution and dew. In the centre of Warsaw the sky is bright; 30–60 km outside the city you will see many more stars — find darker places on the light pollution layer of the map. When the air temperature drops to the dew point, optics fog up, so a dew heater helps.
